Mt. Charleston Lodge

A cozy mountain getaway. The perfect vacation from your Vegas vacation.

Las Vegas isn’t all about the black jack tables, bouncing clubs and all-you-can-eat buffets. Not only is there perfectly normal suburban life just outside the strip but if you’re the outdoors type and venture just a 45 minute drive into the north west direction, you’ll discover a true mountain oasis. The drive up is unmissable itself as you watch casinos fade into housing developments then into sparse desert then suddenly you’re amongst red woods and towering rocky mountains! And in the winter months, believe it or not, a snowy winter wonderland!

We always make a point to book one or two nights at the Mount Charleston Lodge every trip we take to Vegas. Each log cabin has its own panoramic mountain view, jacuzzi tub, fire place and HUGE bed. It is an older establishment so don’t expect the Four Seasons but the kitschy charm of it all is sure to make you swoon. They don’t have many cabins so book early! The adjoining restaurant is fantastic too. Pancakes bigger than your head for breakfast and classic American fair (+insane buffalo cauliflower) all day. Their hot chocolate cocktails are killer.

There are dozens of hiking trails for any skill level and even skiing/snowboarding/inner tubing at nearby Lee Canyon who recently finished a huge upgrade to their facilities. Whether you’re looking for a cozy couple days of hibernation or active outdoor adventure, Mt.Charleston has got you covered.
